Gainsthorpe, Lincolnshire
Gainsthorpe is a deserted mediæval village near Hibaldstow in Lincolnshire, in the Parts of Lindsey. The site is in the care of English Heritage which describes it as "one of the best-preserved deserted mediæval villages in England, with many of its houses, barns and streets clearly visible as a complex of grassy humps and bumps". The reason for its abandonment is uncertain. It is within the council area of North Lincolnshire.
