Frenchay, Gloucestershire
Frenchay is a village in Gloucestershire, on the north-west bank of the River Frome. The village was first recorded in 1257 as 'Fromscawe'. The church of St John the Baptist was built from 1834. Frenchay Common, home of Frenchay Cricket Club (formed 1846), is overlooked by several 18th-century houses, many built by Wealthy Quaker Families. The village is within the council area of South Gloucestershire.
