Freemantle, Hampshire

Freemantle is a western suburb of Southampton, Hampshire. The name is that of a house and estate dating at least from the 16th century. The estate was sold by its last owner, Sir George Henry Hewett, in 1852 and the suburb developed during the second half of the 19th century. It is within the council area of Southampton.
