Fourhole Cross, Cornwall
The Fourhole Cross (aka Four Hole Cross) is a mediæval wayside cross, situated by the side of the A30 (an ancient routeway) on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall. The cross has as an upright granite shaft with a round or 'wheel' head, set in a modern granite boulder base. The head was fully pierced by four holes creating an equal limbed cross with widely splayed arms linked by an outer ring, although the upper half of the head is now missing. The style of decoration suggests that it dates from the 11th century. It is within the council area of Cornwall.
