Fortis Green is a former hamlet that is now a suburban area in the north-west of Hornsey, Middlesex. Until the 19th century, Fortis Green was a tiny hamlet alongside a track (now Fortis Green road) between Muswell Hill and the East End of Finchley. It saw gradual development during the 19th century and now consists of a mixture of late Victorian and early 20th-century semi-detached houses. Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks were born and brought up in the area. Folk band Fairport Convention are named from guitarist Simon Nicol's family home 'Fairport' in Fortis Green. The area is within the council area of Haringey.
