Fleetwood, Lancashire

Fleetwood is a resort town in Lancashire. It fills the spit of land between the Irish Sea and the River Wyre. The town, founded by Peter Hesketh-Fleetwood, was the first planned town of the Victorian era and constructed from 1836. The town was for many years a major fishing port. The Mount is a park facing the sea-front, laid out by Decimus Burton and is surmounted by a pavilion built in 1902. The town is within the council area of Wyre (Lancashire).
