Five Barrows, Devon
Five Barrows is, despite its name, a group of eight prehistoric barrows situated on Western Common on Exmoor, near to Bentwichen, Devon. Despite some partial early excavations and stone robbing the seven bowl barrows and one bell barrow, which form part of a larger round barrow cemetery, survive well. The bowl barrows survive as circular mounds which vary in diameter from 45ft up to 110ft and in height from 2ft to 10ft. The bell barrow survives as a circular mound which measures 115ft in diameter and up to about 8ft high. The monument within the council area of North Devon (Devon).
