Finnieston, Lanarkshire

Finnieston is an urban area in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, situated on the north bank of the River Clyde between the West End and the city centre. The village of Finnieston was established in 1768 by Matthew Orr, and named in honour of his tutor the Reverend John Finnie. Once an area of docks and warehouses, in the 21st century Finnieston has been built up as a residential and leisure area. It is within the council area of City of Glasgow.
