Faesten Dic, Kent

Faesten Dic is an Anglo-Saxon frontier dyke near Joyden's Wood, Kent. The dyke survives as a roughly north-south aligned, linear earthwork. It takes the form of a series of connected, zigzagging ditches and banks with a total length of about a mile. Such dykes are believed to mark territorial boundaries in the early mediæval period. The monument is within the council area of Dartford (Kent).
