Everton, Lancashire

Everton is an urban area in Liverpool, Lancashire. Everton is an inner-city area located just north of Liverpool city centre. Everton township became part of the borough of Liverpool in 1835, after which it became increasingly urbanised. St Georges' Church (1814) was built by John Cragg, with an interior in cast iron made at his Mersey Iron Foundry. Everton Lock-Up (or Prince Rupert's Tower), a Georgian village lock-up located on Everton Brow, is used on the crest of Everton FC, formed in the area as St Domingo FC in 1878. Everton is within the council area of Liverpool.
