Edwardsville, Glamorgan

Edwardsville is the name given to the small urban area that grew up around the Quakers Yard station, which is some distance from Quakers Yard itslef. The Edwardsville area began as a public house and a few houses on the road along the valley to Merthyr. The village was named after Mr Edmund Edwards, the proprietor of the Great Western Hotel and chairman of the meeting called in the hotel to name the settlement. It is within the council area of Merthyr Tydfil.
