Eden, Antrim

Eden is a former hamlet that is now an suburban area on the eastern edge of Carrickfergus, County Antrim. It is within the townland of North East Division, in the civil parish of Carrickfergus. Prior to the mid 20th century, Eden was a hamlet lying along the Carrickfergus to Whiteland road (now the A2), just west of the Copeland Bridge over the Copeland Water. Since then it has seen significant suburban development but retains a distinct identity and a village feel. The first school house opened in 1836, the present Eden Primary School opening in 1929. The area is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
