Ebbsfleet, Kent
Ebbsfleet is a hamlet located at the southern end of Pegwell Bay on the Isle of Thanet, Kent. Pegwell Bay is a natural harbour on the part of the coast nearest to the Continent. Consequently, Ebbsfleet is believed to be the location of three important arrivals into Britain: Julius Caesar’s first invasion of 54 BC; Hengist and Horsa's Saxon invasion of AD 449; and Augustine of Canterbury's arrival in AD 597. The hamlet is within the council area of Thanet (Kent).
