East Stonehouse, Devon
East Stonehouse (or Stonehouse) is a former town that is now an area in the larger city of Plymouth, Devon. East Stonehouse lies between the Millbay Docks and Stonehouse Creek, across which is Devonport. Historically the area was a chapelry, later a parish, which lay outside the municipal area of Plymouth. It became the basis for an urban district in 1895 before being incorporated into the municipal area of Plymouth in 1914. The area has many historic buildings, including the Royal William Victualling Yard (1826-1835), the Royal Marine Barracks, Stonehouse (1756) and the Royal Naval Hospital, Stonehouse (1758-1765). The area is within the council area of Plymouth.
