East Grinstead, Sussex

East Grinstead is a historic market town in the north of Sussex. The town grew as a strategic market hub on the road between London and the South Coast. The town's High Street contains one of the longest continuous runs of 14th-century timber-framed buildings in England. Sackville College is a Jacobean sandstone almshouse. St Swithun's Church, dating from the 11th century, was rebuilt by James Wyatt in 1789. The town is within the council area of Mid Sussex (West Sussex).
