MenuEast Dulwich, Surrey
East Dulwich is a former hamlet that is now a suburban area in the larger metropolitan district of Dulwich, Surrey. A hamlet of 'Est Dilewissh' existed in 1340. Later maps show a small settlement around Goose Green. In 1865 St John's Church was built amidst green fields and in 1868 East Dulwich railway station opened as Champion Hill Station. The area was transformed from fields and market gardens to a Victorian suburb in the period 1865–1885. It is within the council area of Southwark.
