Ealing, Middlesex

Ealing is a suburban town in Middlesex. Ealing remained a rural village well into the 19th century, during which it became a popular countryside retreat for wealthy Londoners. After the opening of Ealing Station (then Haven Green) in 1879 and Ealing grew to be a suburban town. Ealing Studios is the oldest continuously working studio facility for film production in the world. From 1894-1965, for local government purposes, the ancient parish of Ealing was the basis for Ealing urban district (a municipal borough from 1901), though from 1926 the borough also included the towns of Greenford, Perivale and Hanwell. The town is within the council area of Ealing.
