Dunmurry, Antrim
Dunmurry is a suburban town, lying on the Colin River in County Antrim. It primarily lies within the townland of Dunmurry, in the civil parish of Drumbeg. Dunmurry developed as small village based around the mills operating on the river. The meeting house of the First Presbyterian Church (Non Subscribing) dates from 1779, the congregation from the late 17th-century. Dunmurry Railway Station opened in 1839. The village grew slowly until the late 1920s. From then, and especially from the 1950s, the village expanded to a suburban town. Many greenfield sites around the town were also developed, these sometimes being considered part of a larger Dunmurry. The town is within the council area of Belfast.
