Dunkeswell Abbey, Devon
Dunkeswell Abbey is a ruined 13th-century Cistercian monastery near Dunkeswell, Devon. Dunkeswell Abbey was the ‘daughter’ of Forde Abbey, and was founded in 1201 by William Brewere. By the time of its dissolution in 1539 it was counted as one of the major monastic houses in Devon. Some carved fragments survive within Holy Trinity Church, built on the site in 1842. Elsewhere, fragments of monastery include the partial end wall of the cellarer's range and parts of a gatehouse, survive. The monument is within the council area of Mid Devon (Devon).
