Dunkeld Cathedral, Perthshire

Dunkeld Cathedral is a mediæval Church of Scotland church, lying on the north bank of the River Tay in Dunkeld, Perthshire. It stands on the site of the former Culdee Monastery of Dunkeld. Built in square-stone style of predominantly grey sandstone, the cathedral proper began in 1260 and was completed in 1501. Because of the long construction period, the cathedral shows mixed Gothic and Norman elements. Although the church is partly in ruins, the choir remains in use as a parish church. It is within the council area of Perth and Kinross.
