Dungiven, Londonderry
Dungiven is a small town in County Londonderry. It is within the townland of Dungiven, in the civil parish of Dungiven. It lies where the rivers Roe, Owenreagh and Owenbeg meet at the foot of the 1,525 ft Benbradagh. Between the 12th and 17th centuries the area was ruled by the Ó Catháin clan. Dungiven Priory is a ruined 12th-century Augustinian priory, on earlier foundations. The town grew up around Dungiven Castle, first built by Captain Edward Carey in the mid 17th-century. The town is within the council area of Causeway Coast and Glens.
