Dromara, Down
Dromara is a village, lying on the east bank of the River Laggan in County Down. It is within the townlands of Begny and Crossgar, in the civil parish of Dromara. By the early 19th century, Dromara was a small mill village, though its street pattern suggests it may have a much longer history. The village did not grow much until the latter part of the 20th century, when it saw significant suburban development. St John's Church (C of I), on the west bank of the Laggan, was built in 1811 on the site of several earlier churches, stretching back at least as far as 1306. The village is within the council area of Lisburn and Castlereagh.
