Down Cathedral, Down

Down Cathedral (aka the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity) is a Church of Ireland cathedral church, situated on Cathedral Hill overlooking the town of Downpatrick, County Down. It is within the townland of Demesne Of Down Acre, in the civil parish of Down. The present church dates from the early 19th century but it was built from the ruins of a monastery that dates back at least as far as the 12th century. In the grounds is the reputed burial place of St Patrick. The church is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
