Dowel Cave, Derbyshire
Dowel Cave is a Palaeolithic cave located at the southern end of Dowel Dale, Derbyshire. Excavations show the cave to have been in use in the Mesolithic, Neolithic, Beaker, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman periods, and demonstrated in particular that the site was a Neolithic burial-cave. It is within the council area of Derbyshire Dales (Derbyshire).
