Doddington Hall, Cheshire

Doddington Hall is a country house in Doddington Park in the civil parish of Doddington, Cheshire. The house was built for Rev Sir Thomas Broughton between 1777 and 1798 to a design by Samuel Wyatt. It was built to replace an older house, of which Delves Hall was a part, a short distance to the north. The mansion is a large rectangular block with a double projecting staircase instead of a portico. Inside, the two principal rooms are the rectangular entrance hall and the circular saloon. During the Second World War Goudhurst College, a girl's boarding school, was evacuated from Kent to Doddington Hall and stayed there until it closed down in 1985. In 2010 Doddington Hall underwent restoration by the Doddington Hall Trust. It is within the council area of Cheshire East.
