Dodbrooke, Devon
Dodbrooke is an ancient market town that is now usually considered a part of Kingsbridge in the South Hams area of southern Devon. Dodbrooke was granted a market in 1257 and had become a borough by 1319. The Church of St Thomas Becket (C of E) dates from the 15th century though its 12th century font suggests earlier origins. The parishes of Kingsbridge and Dodbrooke were united into one parish and became the basis for Kingsbridge urban district in 1894. In 1912 the ratepayers of Kingsbridge bought the Dodbrooke Market Rights from the Lord of the Manor for £400. Dodbrooke is within the council area of South Hams (Devon).
