Devenish Ecclesiastical Site, Fermanagh

Devenish Ecclesiastical Site is a ruined ecclesiastical site, founded in the 6th century by Saint Molaise, located on Devenish Island, Lower Lough Erne, County Fermanagh. It was active from the earliest period of Irish Christianity until the 16th century. A group of ruined ecclesiastical building unique in Ireland survive here. These include a 12th-century church, 2 round towers, graveyards, a 15th-century abbey, a high cross and cross carved stones. There is also an enclosure, other earthworks and the site of a holy well. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Fermanagh and Omagh.
