Desertmartin, Londonderry

Desertmartin is a small village, situated at the foot of Slieve Gallion in County Londonderry. It is within the townlands of Stranagard and Knocknagin, in the civil parish of Desertmartin. The remains of a former parish church lie on the east side of the village. The is reputed to be the site of a church built as a retreat by St Columba in the 6th century in honour of St Martin. The village is within the council area of Mid Ulster.
