Derrytrasna, Armagh

Derrytrasna is a village, lying on the southern shores of Lough Neagh in County Armagh. It is within the townland of Derrytrasna, in the civil parish of Montiaghs. At the turn of the 20th century, Derrytrasna was little more than a small collection of properties at a crossroads on the main road from Portadown to Charlestown. The 20th century brought significant development, especially of bungalows. The newly constructed St Mary's Church (RC) was blown down on the 'Night of the Big Wind' on 6th January 1839. It was rebuilt between 1939-1841. The village is within the council area of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon.
