Dawley, Shropshire

Dawley is a small town in Shropshire, which today it forms part of the new town of Telford: when planned in 1963, the new town was to be named 'Dawley New Town' before it was decided to name the new town after the engineer Thomas Telford. Dawley was, for over three centuries, a mining town, both for coal and ironstone. The town is within the council area of Telford and Wrekin.
