Darlaston, Staffordshire
Darlaston is a town in Staffordshire, within the Black Country. Darlaston is situated between Wednesbury and Walsall in the valley of the River Tame. Due to its location in the South Staffordshire coalfield, Darlaston has been a coal mining area for many centuries. The town became rapidly industrialised in the early 19th century. For local government purposes, from 1895-1966, the ancient parish of Darlaston became the basis of Darlaston urban district. Darlaston Town Hall (1888) was designed by Jethro Anstice Cossins in the Queen Anne Style. The town is within the council area of Walsall.
