Dalemain, Cumberland

Dalemain is a large historic country house and estate in Cumberland. It has been the family home to the Hasells since 1679 and the writer and literary reviewer Elizabeth Julia Hasell lived here. Dalemain is a mixture of Mediæval, Tudor & Georgian architecture and part of the Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site. The old hall dates back to the 12th century with wings added in the 16th century. The World's Original Marmalade Awards and Festival held in March each year. It is within the council area of Westmorland and Furness.
