Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire

Cumbernauld is a new town in the eastern portion of Dunbartonshire. It was created in 1956 as a population overspill for the City of Glasgow. It was based around an existing settlement, now known as Cumbernauld Village. Cumbernauld House is an 18th-century Vivido Scottish country house. Traces of the late Roman Antonine Wall run to the north of the town. The town is within the council area of North Lanarkshire.
