Crossness, Kent
Crossness is an urban area to the north-east of Thamesmead, lying on the south bank of the river Thames in Kent. It is named from Cross Ness, a promontory on the southern bank of the Thames. Crossness is the location of the Crossness Sewage Treatment Works, which includes the historic Victorian Crossness Pumping Station. Part of the area has been developed for housing since the late 20th century. The area is within the council area of Bexley.
