Cricklewood, Middlesex

Cricklewood is a former hamlet that is now an urban area between Willesden Green and Child's Hill, in Middlesex. The hamlet dates back at least as far as the 13th century. It developed along the Roman road Watling Street (the Edgeware Road), split between the parishes of Willesden and Hendon. The area was developed from the 1870s after the arrival of the railways to Willesden Green and Child's Hill. Edgeware Road became the retail area of Cricklewood Broadway by 1900. The Crown (1899), a terracotta public house, is a local landmark. The area is within the council areas of Brent and Barnet.
