Cranham, Essex

Cranham is a suburban village in Essex. Cranham was an Anglo-Saxon manor, later a parish. The earliest reference to Cranham Hall is from 1344, the current hall dating from c. 1795. All Saints' Church, rebuilt in 1873, stands beside the manor. Besides the hall and church, the parish contained a only a few farms at the start of the 20th century. Some suburban development began in the inter-war period, with larger-scale development in the 1950s. The suburban area lies to the north of the hall and church. The village is within the council area of Havering.
