Craiglockhart, Midlothian

Craiglockhart is a former hamlet which is now a suburb on the south-west of in Edinburgh, Midlothian. The area was developed for housing in the 1930s. Craiglockhart Castle is a ruined 15th century tower house. Old Craig House, on Easter Craiglockhart Hill, dates from 1565. New Craig House was built from 1889-1894 as a lunatic asylum. Craiglockhart is within the council area of City of Edinburgh.
