Cowdray House, Sussex

Cowdray House is a ruined Tudor country house, located within the ground of Cowdray Park near Midhurst, Sussex. The original fortified manor house was built between 1273 and 1284 by Sir John Bohun. Sir David Owen, uncle to Henry VII, had the Tudor mansion built in the 1520s. The surrounded land was imparked in the 1530s. The house was largely destroyed by fire in 1793 and now stands in ruins. It is within the council area of Chichester (West Sussex).
