Coupar Angus, Perthshire / Angus

Coupar Angus is a small town which is partly in Perthshire and partly in Angus. The county border runs through the town, marked by the Coupar Burn. Whilst the town centre and the larger part of the town are in Perthshire, the ruins of the Abbey, in whose shadow the town grew up in the Middle Ages, stands in Angus. The town was known as the "Queen of Strathmore" at the height of its prosperity, which is yet reflected in the fine architecture in the town. The town is within the council area of Perth and Kinross.
