Congleton, Cheshire

Congleton is a market town in Cheshire, on the River Dane. Henry de Lacy granted the town its first charter in 1272. Congleton became an important centre of textile production, especially leather gloves and lace. Congleton Town Hall (1866) was designed in the Gothic style by Edward William Godwin. The town is within the council area of Cheshire East.
