Colyton, Devon
Colyton is an ancient market town, located on the River Coly in the south-east of Devon. The earliest reference, to 'Culintona', is from 964. During the Middle Ages, it grew into an important agricultural centre and market town. The 11th-century St Andrew's Church (C of E) replaced an earlier Saxon church. Old Church House was the original site of Colyton Grammar School from 1546. The town is within the council area of East Devon (Devon).
