Colne, Lancashire
Colne is a market town in Lancashire. The town stands in the Aire Gap, a pass through the Pennines cut by glaciers. Situated on the edge of the Pennines, Colne is surrounded by beautiful countryside. A former mill town, the economy is now based around service industries, retail and manufacturing. A memorial exists to Wallace Hartley, bandleader on the Titanic, who was born in Colne. The town is within the council area of Pendle (Lancashire).
