Collier's Wood, Surrey
Collier's Wood is a former hamlet that is now an urban area to the south-west of Tooting Graveney, in Surrey. Collier's Wood is first recorded in 1632. The grounds of Collierswood House (1780) were developed for housing from the 1870s, the house being demolished in 1904. Development continued into the inter-war period. The section of Stane Street through the area is now known as Colliers Wood High Street, the location of Collier's Wood tube station. The area is within the council area of Merton.
