Cockermouth, Cumberland
Cockermouth is an ancient market town in Cumberland, which takes its name from the town's position at the meeting of the River Cocker with the River Derwent. Much of the architectural core of the town remains unchanged since the basic mediæval layout was filled in the 18th and 19th centuries. Wordsworth House is a Georgian townhouse in which William Wordsworth and Dorothy Wordsworth were born. Cockermouth is within the council area of Cumberland.
