Coalisland, Tyrone

Coalisland is a small town in County Tyrone. It is within the townlands of Gortgonis, Gortnaskea, Brackaville and Annagher, in the civil parish of Tullyniskan. The town grew up during the 18th century at the head of the Coalisland Canal, which linked the coal fields of East Tyrone to the River Blackwater and Lough Neagh. The town is within the council area of Mid Ulster.
