Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire

Clumber Park is a historic estate near Hardwick, Nottinghamshire. Carved out of the ancient forest of Sherwood, Clumber Park is an expanse of parkland, heath and woods of more than 3,800 acres. The estate was the seat of the Pelham-Clintons, Dukes of Newcastle. Clumber House was demolished in 1938. The estate was purchased by the National Trust in 1946. The Duke's study, designed by Charles Barry in the 1880s, is all that survives of the main house. The Gothic Revival chapel and a four-acre walled kitchen garden also survive.
