Cloughey, Down

Cloughey (aka Cloghy) is a small village, overlooking Cloghy Bay on the east coast of the Ards Peninsula in County Down. It is within the townlands of Cloghy and Kirkistown, in the civil parishes of Castleboy and Ardkeen. Originally a hamlet at the southern end of the bay, 20th century development saw the village stretch around the whole coast of the bay and become a resort. The old Presbyterian Church was built in 1842 between the shore road and the sea. A new church as built in the 1980s further northern along the bay. The village is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
