Clooney, Londonderry

Clooney is an urban area in the Waterside area of Londonderry, County Londonderry. It is within the townland of Clooney, in the civil parish of Clondermot. The original single 'Waterside' street on the east bank of the River Foyle lay in the townland of Clooney and much of the Waterside area's subsequent development has taken place within it. A hamlet of 'Clooney' formerly existed around the top of Melrose Terrace (Bond's Hill). The area was built up from the late 19th century, but remains the area within the larger townland which is usually meant by 'Clooney'. All Saints Clooney Church (C of I) and Clooney Hall Methodist Church lie on Clooney Terrace. The area is within the council area of Derry City and Strabane.
