Clipperstown, Antrim

Clipperstown is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in Carrickfergus, County Antrim. It is within the townlands of Middle Division and West Division, in the civil parish of Carrickfergus. The hamlet has lain along the main road north-west out of Carrickfergus (now Ellis Street) since at least the early 19th century. Clipperstown Railway Station opened in 1924. Clipperstown became surrounded by the expansion of the urban area of Carrickfergus in the post-war years. The area is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
