Cleave Dike, Yorkshire
Cleave Dike is a prehistoric linear boundary on the Hambleton Hills in Yorkshire, in the North Riding. The name "Cleave Dyke" has been given to a series of linear ditches and banks stretching north-south over five miles parallel with and close to the western scarp of the Hambleton Hills. The system was constructed between the Late Bronze Age and the Iron Age. A well defined section of Cleave Dyke stretches to the east of Garbutt Farm near Cold Kirby. This section of the dike is within the council area of North Yorkshire.
